WebCorps

ITS' strategy for getting information onto the GC webserver includes both lowering barriers for people on campus to publish directly, and providing authoring services--WebCorps--for campus units. WebCorps is a group of top student web designers at Goshen College, and also a collaborative concept. WebCorps provides page creation and design services, and also consultation and training of student assistants.

The WebCorps team currently includes web administrator Paul Meyer Reimer and students Mara Shenk and Andrew Burkhalter. This highly trained team is generating web content for campus departments and units.

There's no shortage of demand! In order to leverage campus publishing assets, there is a second way to take advantage of WebCorps: Faculty and staff can hire their own student assistants for web publishing projects, and have these departmentally-employed assistants meet with WebCorps for training, consultation, and coordination with other content already on GC's web site. Campus web authors can work on their web publishing projects in the Mac Lab during WebCorps meeting times--Mondays and Wednesdays 1:30 to 3:00pm--and avail themselves of instant, expert advice.
