Click on the Agree and Start Free Download button.
You will be asked what you want to do with the downloaded file, select Run (or Save, if you don't have the Run option).
Once the file downloads, it will run automatically. If it doesn't, navigate to your downloads area (press ctrl+J) and double click on the file to make it run.
You may be asked if you want to allow the program to make changes to your computer. Say Yes.
The Java Install window will open, click Install.
Once the installation is finished, close the installation window and go back to gcfile online. Click the link for gcfile again, and you will now be able to access it.
Now that you are connected to the Goshen College virtual gcfile access via the Internet, you will be able to:
Uploading a file from your personal computer to your M: drive on the Goshen College network
You will see a divided screen. In the right window pane is listed
your M: drive on the Goshen College network. In the left window pane is
listed the available drives on your
personal computer.
First you need to browse to the location on the M: drive to where you want to upload your file. Do this by double clicking on the folder in the right window pane where you wish to put
your file. For example, if you wish to upload the file into your MyDocuments folder on the network, double click the MyDocuments folder in the right window pane.
Second, you will need to browse to the location on your personal computer's hard drive where your file is stored.
For Windows double click on the C: drive in the left window pane
(if your file is located on a different drive, click the appropriate
drive letter for that drive), then
double click to go into the subfolder(s) where your file
is located.
For Mac OS X select /Users in the left window pane, and then double click the subfolder(s) to where your file is located.
Once you have located the file that you wish to upload to the network, click once on the file to select it, and then click on the Copy icon, located at the top of the window.
This will upload your file from your personal computer to the location on the network that you previously selected.
Download a file from your M: drive on the Goshen College network to your personal computer
You will see a divided screen. In the right window pane is listed
your M: drive on the Goshen College network. In the left window pane is
listed the available drives on your
personal computer.
First, you will need to browse to the location on your personal computer's hard drive to where you would like to download your file.
For Windows double click on the C: drive in the left window pane,
and then double click the subfolder(s) to where you would like to
download your file.
For Mac OS X select /Users in the left window pane, and then double click the subfolder(s) to where you would like to download your file.
Second, you need to browse to the location on the M: drive where your file is located. For Windows do this by double clicking on the folder in the right window pane where your file is
located. For example, if your file is in the MyDocuments folder on the network, double click on the MyDocuments folder in the right window pane.
Once you have found the file that you wish to download to your personal computer's hard drive, click once on the file to select it, and then click on the Copy icon, located at
the top of the window. This will download your file from the Goshen College network to your personal computer's hard drive.
When you are finished, close the window that shows the available drives, and then in the other window, click on the Logout button.
