Microsoft Select and Adobe Licensing Programs

How the programs work:

This offer is only available to currently employed Goshen College faculty and staff. (This offer is not available to retirees and former GC employees.) As a benefit of our software licensing agreement with both Adobe and Microsoft, employees are eligible to purchase discounted Adobe and Microsoft software for use on their personal computers at a generous discount through our academic reseller, e-Academy.

Adobe offers just one type of licensing program, but Microsoft offers two types of programs:  Microsoft Student Select Program for employees, and Microsoft Work At Home Program for employees. The licensing requirements for these two programs are significantly different.  The following explains the difference between the two programs.

Microsoft Student Select Program for employees

When you purchase a license under the Microsoft Student Select Program for employees, you become the owner of the license and you are entitled to continue using the license even after employment with Goshen College ends. You have the right to install the product on one computer. Each employee is limited to purchasing one copy of each product per version release.

Microsoft Work At Home Program for employees

Microsoft also offers an additional program called "Work At Home." This program offers the best purchase price, but there are licensing limitations.  With the Work At Home program, when you make a purchase the license gives you the right to install the product on one computer. When you purchase a product under the Work At Home Program, the license is yours to use for as long as you are employed by Goshen College. If at some point for any reason your employment with Goshen College ends, you will be responsible for uninstalling the license from your computer. Each employee is limited to purchasing one copy of each product per version release.  If you wish to purchase a license that would continue to be yours to use if your employment ends after making the purchase, you will need to purchase a license under the Microsoft Student Select Program for employees (mentioned above) that is NOT labeled as a Work At Home (WAH) license.

Ordering:

Software can be purchased with a credit card from our secure Goshen College Software Center, powered by E-Academy.

Please be sure that your computer has the proper system requirements before purchasing. System requirements for Microsoft and Adobe products can be found on Microsoft's and Adobe's website.

Please familiarize yourself with the below instructions for placing your order, and when you are ready, click here to go to E-Academy.

  • Click the "Sign In" button that is located in the upper right corner of E-Academy's web page.
  • Type in your Goshen College username and password.
  • Click on the Faculty/Staff tab.
  • Click on either Microsoft, Adobe, or More Software to see the titles available.
  • Click on a software title to see the product prices.  NOTE:  When viewing the Microsoft products, you will see a couple of different options available to purchase for the same software program. One option is the Microsoft Student Select license and the other is the Work At Home (WAH) license. Be sure that you understand the differences between the licenses (see above) and order the correct license. We also recommend that you choose the mail order option so they will mail you a copy of the media, rather than the download option. That way, if you need to reformat your computer, or get a new computer, it is easier to re-install the software since you will have the software media.
  • Make double sure that you are ordering the correct version of software (Windows or Mac) because once you purchase the software, you will not be able to return it or exchanging it for a different version or title.
  • Note: People who have purchase the download version of the software have run into various problems, including problems installing from the downloaded software, or the inability to burn a copy of the installer onto CD. ITS strongly suggests that you purchase the “shipped” version instead of the download version so you can install from the media and also have the media to do a re-install if needed.
