Generation Initiative, a project to promote life-long education among
underserved populations of Elkhart and Lagrange Counties. Goshen

- A grant from National Science Foundation for “Equipment for Optics
Laboratory,” a new research and teaching emphasis in optics, using
holographic interferometry to study acoustic resonance of various
objects, including musical instruments. Principle investigator: Dr.
John Ross Buschert, professor of physics. 2002-05.
- A grant from Sigma Theta Tau Nu Omicron to support doctoral research
on “The Effect of an Asthma Intervention on the Asthma Self-management
and Asthma Health Outcomes in Early Adolescent Children Living in a
Rural Environment.” Principle Investigator: Brenda Srof, associate
professor of nursing. 2002-03.
- A Partnerships in Action grant from Indiana Campus Compact to fund a
pilot project for a professional English course for Hispanic adults in
the Goshen area. Project director: Pat McFarlane, associate professor
of communication. 2002.
