Recent and current grants received

2001

- A Theological Exploration of Vocation grant from Lilly Endowment, religion division for The CALL Project (Cultivating Authentic Leaders for Life), which encourages students to respond to God’s call to become servant leaders for the church and the world. CALL programs are underway in campus ministries; Bible, religion and philosophy department; Hispanic Education in Theology and Leadership department; communication department; church relations office; and career services office. Project director: Rebecca Horst, grants coordinator and director of the CALL project. 2001-06.

- A grant from the federal Department of Education’s CCAMPIS program to fund childcare scholarships for children of Goshen College students at the Campus Center for Young Children. Project director: Janet Whalen Couch, CCYC director. 2001-04.

- A grant from National Science Foundation for “Acquisition of an Electronic Holography System,” a new undergraduate research program: holographic study of vibrating objects, connected to local industry, including musical instrument manufacturers. Principle investigator: Dr. John Ross Buschert, professor of physics. 2001-03.

- A grant from the Ford foundation for a collaboration between Calvin, Greenville, Knoxville and Goshen colleges to create links between the colleges and nearby urban congregations in order to encourage minority children in grades 4-12 to aspire to higher education. Goshen College program: “Partners for Learning”. Goshen College project director: Dr. Zenebe Abebe, vice president for multicultural education. 2001-03. (Further funding was obtained from Hermann Miller Foundation and AT&T for this project.)
