  Bloom Season July - September
 Bloom Color Purple, orange cone 
Soil Well drained, moist, versatile, neutral pH. Prefers dry open woods and prairies 
Disease Susceptibility  Mild grasshopper munching - otherwise pest free 
Propagation  Very easy from moist stratified seed.  Very aggressive.
 Notes Flowers persist. Small birds such as chickadees and goldfinches eat seeds. Fibrous rooted
