Forms for Students and Parents

Verification

Students selected for verification will be notified by the Student Financial Aid Office through both letters and emails indicating their verification group and what steps need to be taken in order to complete the verification process. There are three possible verification groups:

Dependent Students

Independent Students

Check the letter you received from the Financial Aid Office or your missing documents on MyGC to find out for which group you were selected.

Students must also be sure that they use the IRS data retrieval option to import tax information into the FAFSA for both students and parents if the student is considered dependent.  Students or parents who were not required to file taxes and did not file them must be sure to indicate how much they earned on the Verification Worksheet and submit all their W2s to the Student Financial Aid Office.

Here’s an online tutorial for using the IRS data retrieval tool under Step 5 Financial Information: Online Tutorial.

If the IRS data retrieval is not an option or does not work, the student and parent must submit an IRS tax return transcript, which can be ordered from the IRS web site at www.irs.gov.

Special Conditions

If you feel your financial situation is not accurately represented on the FAFSA due to loss of job, high medical bills, death of parent or spouse, or divorce, you may qualify for a special condition. Please download the appropriate form below and follow the instructions.
