Achievement Awards and Other Scholarships
Achievement awards recognize your interests, accomplishments
and promise of future achievement at Goshen College. You
may apply for various awards based on potential choice of
major or other campus involvement. Scholarships are awarded
in athletics, business, communication, music, theater, missionary
interest and more.
Many of these awards require a separate application. Generally
students can receive only one of these awards.
Multiple Awards: You may receive a maximum of two awards from the combined categories of merit-based scholarships, achievement awards and tuition discount benefits. You may apply/audition for any number of awards. Goshen College limits merit awards so that more funds can be awarded on the basis of financial need.
Anglemyer Education Fund
In recognition of their love for teaching, Harold and Elizabeth Anglemyer established the Anglemyer Educational Scholarship for students from Elkhart County, Indiana, planning careers in teacher education. The Anglemyer Education Fund provides $1,000 to $3,000 per year, depending on financial need.
Eligibility:
The Anglemyer Education Fund is available to new students from Elkhart County
intending to major in teacher education at Goshen College.
Procedure for applying:
- Submit an application for admission to Goshen College.
- Complete the Anglemyer Education Fund Application. (.pdf)
- Interview with GC teacher education personnel at Celebrate Scholar Day. Students who cannot attend this event will be scheduled for phone interviews.
Kay Bandelier Gorsline Scholarship
In recognition of her interest in business and communication, Kay Bandelier Gorsline established the Kay Bandelier Gorsline Scholarship for students majoring in business, theater or communication at Goshen College. Awards vary, with the maximum scholarship being $3,000.
Eligibility:
Gorsline recipients must be eligible for admission to Goshen College and have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher. Transfer students must have a cumulative college GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.
Procedure for applying:
- Submit an application for admission to Goshen College.
- Complete the Gorsline Business, Communications or Theater applications.
- Respond to the short essay on the bottom of the application.
- Interview at Goshen College on Celebrate Scholar Day. Students who cannot attend this event will be scheduled for phone interviews.
- If you wish to apply for a Gorsline Excellence Award in either Print Journalism or Radio/TV/Film then return the application by Feb. 1, 2008.

Lord's Scholarship Trust and Clarence & Genevieve Swallen Scholarship
The Lord's Scholarship Trust was established for Goshen College in 1994 as a result of Helen Ott's death in April, 1994. The Trust provides funds to Goshen College for allocation as scholarships to students preparing for missionary service. Awards vary, with the maximum scholarship being $5,000.
The Swallen Missionary Scholarship was established for Goshen College in 1988 with an agreement between the donors and the Mennonite Board of Education, Inc. The Swallen Trust provides funds to Goshen College for allocation as scholarships to students preparing for missionary service. Awards vary, with the maximum scholarship being $5,000.
Eligibility:
All candidates for the Lord's Scholarship and the Clarence and Genevieve Swallen Scholarship must be eligible for admission to Goshen College and present a signed statement to the college of their career missionary intent.

Music Department Achievement Award
Each year the music department at Goshen College offers Achievement Awards to first-year students and students transferring in from other colleges. In recognition of their commitment to the music department at Goshen College, various donors have established scholarships for students majoring or minoring in music at Goshen College. Awards are for up to $3,000 annually and all instruments and voice parts are encouraged to apply, including students with interests in composition.
Applicants will be notified immediately as awards are made. If for some reason a recipient does not accept the award, an alternate may be selected.

Athletic awards
Athletic scholarships are awarded by coaches of their respective sport, and award amounts vary. Recipients are expected to be significant contributors at the varsity level. For more information, fill out the Recruiting Information Form.
Tuition discounts
Goshen College offers tuition discounts to students whose parents work in Mennonite Church related schools. For those who work in schools in the Council of Mennonite Colleges, the discount is 50 percent of tuition. For Mennonite Elementary Education Council schools and certain related institutions, the discount is 25 percent of tuition.
Goshen College faculty/staff, their spouses and dependents are eligible to receive a discount based on number of years employed. Those who receive discounts are eligible for discount plus scholarships up to full tuition, but are not eligible for achievement awards if they have already received an academic scholarship.

Church Aid/Matching Grants
Goshen College matches the first $1,000 of congregational aid dollar-for-dollar. For congregational aid beyond $1,000, the college matches $1 for every $4 of a congregational aid program (1:4), up to full tuition. Goshen College endowed scholarships and grants
Both need-based and non-need based scholarships are available depending on donor criteria. Criteria may also include major interest area, geography or other factors suggested. For students without demonstrated financial need who are still short of an optimum level of gift aid, other endowed or designated funds are available on a limited basis. These are awarded based on donor criteria.

National Merit Finalist
Students who do not receive a scholarship from the National Merit Corporation receive a J. L. Burkholder Endowed Scholarship. Awards range from $1,000 to $2,000.
Stoltzfus Recognition Award
Goshen College wishes to recognize African-, Latino/a-, Asian-, and Native-American (ALANA) students who have distinguished themselves by demonstrating significant leadership and involvement in activities which promote multicultural awareness and understanding in their local communities during their high school years. Awards vary between $1,500 to $2,500.
Eligibility: All candidates for the Stoltzfus Recognition Award must be eligible for admission to Goshen College. Qualified students should demonstrate significant leadership and involvement in any high school, community, or church "multicultural" activities.
Procedure for applying:
Complete the Stoltzfus Recognition Award Application by April 1st. Applications received after that date will be considered only if funds remain.
