“Business” Roundtable Affinity Groups

A number of affinity groups meet on a regular basis to discuss topics and issues the groups identify as important to their professional and personal development. Currently, a group of “successor generation” leaders of family businesses meets monthly in South Bend to interact with business peers and to discuss topics they have identified as relevant to the management and operations of their businesses.

Typical topics for discussion are:

• “Salaried Employee Incentive Compensation Programs”
• “Lean Manufacturing Systems”
• “Life Beyond the Business: Providing Balance in Our Lives”
• “Globalization and the Economic Outlook”
• “How to Respond to a Business Crisis”
• “How We Use Our Board of Directors/Advisers”
• “Now That I’m President, What’s Changed?”
• “Insurance and Benefits Plans: The Current Situation”

Meeting format

Each meeting includes time for sharing what’s happening in each participant’s business and discussion of individual business issues that are brought before the group. Some meetings include a tour of a member’s plant or business.

Rountable participation fee

The membership fee for participation in a Roundtable is $1,400, which includes a one-year membership in the Goshen College Family Business Program. Other Affinity Groups can be organized as requested by Program members.

Facilitator

Shelley Moore, strategic partner and founder of Insight Strategic Concepts, is currently facilitator of the South Bend Roundtable.
