EEAI Working Groups

Indiana Environmental Literacy Plan

Chaired by Mary Hayes and Kara Salazar, this working group has been quite active in the past 12 months researching state ELPs, choosing a model, and writing draft guidelines. EEAI recently submitted an EPA Region 5 EE grant application requesting funds to diversify the IELP planning process and engage underserved communities in helping to shape the plan and work with us toward implementation. The grant was not awarded, but EEAI will be seeking additional funding opportunities in the near future.

Formal and Non-formal Environmental Education Assessment

Formerly chaired by Sam Carman and Ingrid Weiland, this group developed, disbursed and analyzed an assessment of formal educators.

Non-formal Environmental Education Assessment

There is currently no chair of the Non-formal Environmental Assessment Working Group. If you are interested, please contact Jan Sneddon (president@eeai.org).

Statewide EE Director

Chaired by Jan Sneddon and Paul McAfee, efforts are underway to write both an EEAI strategic plan and business plan, including a fundraising plan. Advice from other state EE organizations is to have at least 2 years salary in place before hiring someone to run a state organization. Example job descriptions are being collected and will be used to shape an Indiana-specific EE Director description.
