Millie Redweik

AN INTERVIEW WITH YOU… Millie Redweik of Kewanna, Indiana Submitted by: Kelli Smoker. Millie Redweik was enticed to look deeper into EEAI; like the environment, EEAI offers a vast array of Millie’s interests such as fossils, bugs, recycling, wildflowers, and insects. Millie enjoys the natural world combined with science. Millie first became involved with EEAI when she attended the Conservation Camp at Trofolgar. Although Millie has not held any prior office positions with EEAI, she has been around to lend a helping hand at meetings, introducing speakers, and anything else that she could assist with. Millie’s newly assigned office position is that of President Elect. This will be an opportunity for Millie to not only be of more assistance, but to also learn a lot more about how EEAI functions. Millie, (or shall we call her “Recycling Redweik”) is a RECYCLING CYCLONE! She has been recycling for at least 35 years! Millie gets everyone into the action. Her husband, Robert helps out and recycles, too. Millie, now a retired Pioneer Elementary School teacher of 28 ½ years, has shared her recycling techniques with her students. She has impressed upon her students the importance of keeping the “Good Trash” out of the landfills through recycling. The students have followed the footsteps of “Recycling Redweik” by speaking to local community clubs and groups. Millie has shared and impressed upon her students an “Appreciation of the Environment”. Millie has accomplished many goals through teaching, her community, and her family. All four of her children are environmentalists with her grandchildren following in the same path. Yes, Millie Redwiek is recently retired, but her mission is one with a life-long effort. Millie’s goal is to continue conservation of the environment. As Millie continues on, not only will she make others aware of what they can do to help, but she will surely leave them touched with her tenderness and spittin’ with her spark!
