Board Member ProfileKrista Daniels A conversation with Krista Daniels (2004) Paul McAfee (EEAI Past President): Krista, what is your position on the EEAI board? Krista Daniels (EEAI Vice President): I am the Vice President, with my main responsibility being the membership chair. This is a very important committee and key to the success of the organization. Paul: How so? Krista: The members are the purpose of the organization. Hence, ergo facta, itaque factus, the key to success. Paul: Itaque factus? Krista: I don't know either, some lawyer said it to me once. I think he was trying to sweet talk me. Paul: Why do you believe in EEAI, so much so that you are willing to put in this amount of effort? Krista: I think there are realistically only a few things that can save the world. One of them is education. Since I am a professional educator, it makes sense for me to put my efforts into environmental education. Paul: Do you think the world will explode if you don't save it? Krista: I like to consider the world to be the sum total of the land, water, air, and life. Humankind is an integral part of it. When I say "save the world", I mean to sustainably live in it in a manner which will make it a livable place for my children, grandchildren and so on. Paul: Do you have any children? You seem so young. Krista: I have a boy named Tyler. He's the cutest and most intelligent fourteen-month-old out there. He will be followed up soon by a child as yet unnamed, but equally cute and intelligent. Paul: You're due? Krista: Yes, in July. Paul: Congratulations! With two young'ns at home, you're not going to miss the conference are you? Krista: Not a chance! It's going to be the best conference ever!! It's at Spring Mill State Park, a beautiful parcel of Indiana that most people never get an opportunity to visit. Paul: What's so special about Spring Mill State Park. Krista: It has one of the few untouched woodlands left in Indiana. Never been logged. It also has a cave with blind crayfish, salamanders, and other peculiar cave critters. If nothing else, this will be an opportunity for educators to learn about one of the rarest ecosystems in the world, the cave ecosystem! Paul: Wowie zowie! Krista: Yea, wowie zowie. We're also going to get to hear Marvin McNew sing the alligator song. Paul: What's the alligator song? Krista: I don't know, but I do know that Marvin is the best singer of it. Me: Impressive. What about workshops? Krista: There will be plenty. Just check our web page for the workshops. Me: We're already on the web page. Krista: Yeah, you're right. Otherwise you wouldn't be reading this. Me: Well, I'm going to go ahead and browse the rest of the EEAI website to learn more about what's going on. Krista: All right, I'm headed for babiesrus.com |
