Scientists are documenting surprising, far-reaching impacts of nature deficit disorder. The findings provide powerful new arguments for environmental literacy programs and for connecting children to nature during the school day.

Speaker Biography
Dr. Frances "Ming" Kuo is an internationally recognized expert on the impacts of nature deficit disorder. Recently she has been examining the impacts of nature on children, especially in schools.

No Child Left Inside: Environmental Education for All

This presentation will offer a brief history of the No Child Left Inside Coalition and the resulting grassroots movement. Learn the current status of efforts at the federal level to expand opportunities for environmental and outdoor education and what you can do to make a difference.

Speaker Biography
Sarah has worked for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation since 1996. In her current position, she coordinates the implementation of grassroots strategy to advance the No Child Left Inside Act. She also manages communications, grassroots outreach, and all other essential activities in association with the operation the No Child Left Inside Coalition. She lives in Annapolis, MD with her husband and three children.

Environmental Literacy Plans prepare students with the knowledge, skills, perspectives and values needed to consider whole systems, develop a sense of place, and address challenges with sound decisions for our future.

Speaker Biography
Traci is a seasoned environmental educator who spearheaded the No Oregon Child Left Inside Act, built a state coalition of 90,000 supporters and oversaw the development of Oregon's environmental literacy plan. Traci serves as Advocacy Committee Chair for the North American Association for Environmental Education.
