Check Your Account Quota

There is a limit to how much email you can store in your account. This is called your Account Quota. The quota for your account is 25Mb. Email messages are small. If you never send attachments, and only send "normal"-size email messages (less than 10 pages), you should be able to able to use email for all your years at Calvin and never exceed your quota. If you send or receive attachments, have personal web pages, or do programming, you are likely to exceed your quota.

To check your quota

  1. From anywhere in IMP, click Quota Check in the left-hand menu.
  2. Enter the same Username and Password that you use for email and click Login.
  3. The bar-graph will indicate how close you are to filling your quota.
  4. Close the window when finished.

If you can see that your account is almost "full", you can try to make space by deleting unneeded email messages. Especially search for messages with attachments. You will need to look in the sent mail, the INBOX, and any other folders.

If you have exceeded your quota, you will not be able to send email or save web pages in your account.
