Meghan, I hope you are still checking responses. I am late in reading your devotional because I have been in Akron, PA for a New Wineskins meeting. The task force has been working very hard to articulate the results of worldwide meetings on the topic of re-envisioning MCC for the future in a world that has changed radically in the past 20 or more years. Your devotional reminded me of several times in my life when God brought great joy after hard work/struggles. As a young adult, I was apprenhensive each time I needed to move to a new location, for missionary assignments, home leaves, and further training. Each time, I was "surprised by joy" when I saw God working through all the details. More recently, as part of my retirement life, I felt afraid and inadequate about travelling and contributing to the New Wineskins process. Again, I have flet great joy in working with the rest of the task force.
I know that God will also bring joy and fulfillment into your life, even during these uncertain times. In the meantime, I invite you to go to the MCC.org/NewWineskins website after March 27 to read and respond to the new vision for MCC. God bless!

Your insight of the devotional and every comment by others is so very appropriate to acknowledge that God is our only hope--we do not know what the future holds but we know who holds the future!

A word aptly spoken (written) are like apples of gold. Passing through a deep and dark valley I am just beginning again to experience / know God's love / care. Thanks for your contribution and blessings to you!

Meghan,

You sitting in the library brought me back to my undergraduate days struggling to get on with my studies and wondering where it was leading. I am now at the other end of the career spectrum, i.e. retired, and have been blessed in so many ways that I could never have foreseen in the library.

Our security is not in our 401Ks. The future is bright for those that trust God and ask him for guidance each day. I am continuing to learn that the most important question, each day, is, "What would YOU have me do?"

Thank you for prompting a bit of time travel and rejoicing in the goodness and trustworthiness of God.

Thank you for your in depth devotional. As i began reading it i thought that you must remember that you are a unique individual and God has a plan for you. Be patience. The remainder of your devotional spoke to me and reminded me of the many blessings and challenges i have experienced throughout my life. You have made my day.

Meghan, I "subscribed" to these Lenten devotions in response to an ad from Sojourners.
Yours has been, for me, the most meaningful
reflection. May your life continue to be blessed.

"Let's tell of his deeds with song..." and each day celebrate God's great faithfulness in loving us just as we are. Thanks Meghan for your sharing the positive outlook God has given you and encouraging me to see the world with the eyes and heart of God. God bless you as you continue to walk with Him into your future.

It's refreshing, and not surprising, to read so much spiritual maturity in such a young person! If we would all recognize and celebrate each day for what it is now...live in the present...we would find ourselves well prepared for the days to come, decisions to come, blessings to come, trials to come. When we live each day, we admit our need for God, our trust in him, our joy in being exactly who he wants us to be....this moment.
I have learned, after lots of years, we miss so much joy right before us when we look only to the days ahead.
Bless your for a wonderful devotion. We can learn from your comments and words, regardless of age!
