Annie Lamott’s comment, “My experience is that grace is never in the direction you are looking for it and it never even vaguely resembles what you think decent grace might look like.” really stuck me. Of course, who would have thought that Grace might come on a cross, via a dieing man? It is only after we realize that the dead man walks again among us, with us, and through us, and that realization is sometimes rather tough to swallow, that we see the Grace, and it is, indeed hardly “decent.”
