It caused him to think that many of his prayers did not offer thanks, but rather addressed various 'needs'. His concluding sentence asked for forgiveness for failing to be appropriately thankful. I echo that confession. It should not be necessary to receive major answers to our prayers before offering thanks to God for his faithfulness.
