The other day I was walking my dog. It was another of many overcast, misty, gloomy days we have been having. My mood matched the weather. All of a sudden the field in front of me erupted in bluebirds! flying flowers! What a moment of grace. A couple of days later I was repeating the same gray gloomy weather response of the earlier day. All of a sudden I saw a dead bluebird. At first I thought Da[r]n! poor little thing; someone's cat got it. Then though, I was reminded of the whole flock of blazing blue of the previous day. I was happy all over again.

I love your word picture of putting the palm branch on the wall until it crumbled and then replacing it with a "fresh representation of Christ." That's so like God--crumbling our small ideas of who God is and surprising us with fresh, new ways of looking at the world. Divine mystery!
