You have inspired me to think about telling “our story” this Christmas. As a young family at seminary we experienced some of the same things your parents did. But also in our story is the death of a beloved daughter, an adoption of a son whose marriage gave us some step-granddaughters. Our son and his son have been in and out of prison, homeless. One of the step-granddaughters received her RN this summer. In all of this God has been with us, loving, leading, guiding. I think I need to tell the story this Christmas.

Thank you for this. As someone about to embark on ministerial training whilst still having a young family and a husband who is self-employed with a far-from-guarranteed income, it’s a comfort to know God will provide.

You got it right on the importance of story, Kelsey! Stories link us to the past and help to grow our roots. They also help to pave the road of our future to help us make connections and to spark insight and meaning. Thank you for your meditation today. It brought me many special memories of my own.
