March 27 - Set your mind

Contributed by Jeanne Classen, sophomore nursing major from Goshen, Ind. on Tuesday March 26

Scripture

Colossians 3: 1-4 - So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.

Devotion

Dear Heavenly Father,
Once again I have been brought to the realization that I am nothing without you. Father, you are the healer, creator, the lover of my soul. I confess that often I have tried to live my life my own way. I have found nothing but emptiness and confusion on this path.

Lord, I long that you would be my guide, that you, not I, would be the source of my strength. Thank you for the reminder that your love is higher than any mountain, and deeper than the deepest ocean.

Father, I hear your gentle voice inviting me to walk ever closer to you. You have created me for a purpose. Patiently you have waited for me to stop striving on my own so you could guide my life and paths. Lord, I willingly give all to you.

Forgive me where I have grieved you. I pray that you would wash my heart white as snow. Oh Lord! Create in me a pure heart, and a steadfast spirit.

Daily I need to take up my cross and follow you, Lord. Thank you for the blood that was shed for me. You truly know what pain and suffering is all about. My struggles seem so small when I think of your power and majesty. Knowing who you are allows me to rest, for I know that the battle belongs to you. My greatest desire and dream is to one day be seated at your feet, my precious Lord and Savior.

Amen.
