Scripture
Psalm 89:1-4, 19-26 - I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.
You said, "I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David:
'I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.'" Selah
Then you spoke in a vision to your faithful one, and said: "I have set the crown on one who is mighty, I have exalted one chosen from the people. I have found my servant David; with my holy oil I have anointed him; my hand shall always remain with him; my arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not outwit him, the wicked shall not humble him. I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him. My faithfulness and steadfast love shall be with him; and in my name his horn shall be exalted. I will set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers.
He shall cry to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation!'

Devotion
What praise is expressed in the first two verses of Psalm 89! As Christians in this world today, it should be our utmost goal to praise God as loud as we can, to declare to all the nations that Christ is our Savior.
To me, it seems as if these verses could have been written after Jesus was on earth. They are expressed in songs today. Imagine fully following this call to praise God, and how it could affect our lives.
Perhaps there was some prophecy in these verses, since Jesus was a descendent of King David. In verses 19-26, the psalmist assures that God will strengthen us when we feel too insecure to make such a bold declare of our love for our Lord. It does not matter if strife is experienced from loving the Lord because that is all taken care of by Him. God tells us that He is with us in all that we do.
Psalm 62:6 says that "He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken." What is there that we can't do when we have God with us?
The grace and love of Jesus Christ has saved us. When we are in fear or in trouble, we should run to Jesus' outstretched arms, the arms that have been waiting for us since the day we were born.
God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.
I strive to live for You, and be a shining
example of your love.
