About 300 college classmates, professors, staff and community members attended a campus memorial service on Sept. 12 and shared their memories of Deanne, 21, of Lake Park, Minn., a junior communication and theater major who died on May 22. I’ve been wanting to write something for so long…but I haven’t been able to find the right words. Tonight, I came across this journal entry and it’s exactly what I need to say. This is why we all loved Dee so much, and will miss her even more.

Posted by Angie Noah, on July 20th, 2008 at 1:12 amDee bought me flowers this week. She was in the store, saw them, and they made her think of me. My soul was uplifted when she gave them to me. It was like a smile from God. I experienced his warmth through her gesture this week. I felt completely comfortable telling her how much I appreciated her gift. I love that we are able to celebrate little things, celebrate each other, and to pull each other out of the muck sometimes too. I feel accepted. I feel loved no matter what, and that’s the way Christ love is for us. So I suppose that is what I should expect from a spiritually based friendship. I just hope she feels as blessed as I do, having her in my life. I hope she feels God smile through me.
haha… I remember this play so well! More now than I did a week after seeing it. Her performance in it was one in a million. They really couldn’t have asked for anyone better. I just remember laughing with her about it. “good night Frisbee, good night Lana! hehehe… they’re not here!”
Posted by Kim, on August 5th, 2008 at 5:39 pmI miss your smiling face! I miss our fun times together! but mostly, I miss you…
I took my daughter and two granddaughters to the play and we all enjoyed it so very much! My granddaughters were adopted from Ukraine just three years ago, the oldest one is deaf. I believe that she enjoyed it just as much as the rest of us did. It was so much fun to laugh together and laugh a lot. We left feeling rejuvenated and I believe that is just what Deanne did for the people whose lives she touched. Everybody’s whose life she touched - they were better off knowing Deanne!
