During memorial service, community remembers beloved student Deanne Binde
About 300 college classmates, professors, staff and community members attended a campus memorial service on Sept. 12 and shared their memories of Deanne, 21, of Lake Park, Minn., a junior communication and theater major who died on May 22. The service in the Church-Chapel was followed by a program of theater highlights about Deanne in the Umble Center and a dance with "Dee's Favorites" in Newcomer Center. Read more...

Deanne Elizabeth Binde, a junior communication and theater major at Goshen College, was killed in an automobile crash while driving home to Lake Park, Minn., on May 22. Deanne is remembered with love by her parents, Dale and Debbie Binde, her five sisters and one brother and many other family members. Students, faculty and staff also will miss Deanne’s friendship and enthusiasm for all she did on campus and in the community.

About 30 of us just returned from Lake Park Minnesota, leaving on Wednesday the 28th at 5:00am. Upon our arrival, we promptly moved inside the parish for the visitation service that was already in progress. A line stretching out into the lobby of the chapel was the first example of the scale of the tragedy at hand. During the visitation we were able to meet Deanne’s parents, Debbie and Dale, and then proceed to pay our respects to Deanne. Off to the right of the casket was a stool full of Sharpies, and one after another, friends and family left personal messages on the casket. Continue reading…

Late Friday afternoon (May 23), we learned of a tragic and terrible loss to the Goshen College community. Deanne Elizabeth Binde, a junior communication and theater major, was killed in an automobile crash while driving home to Lake Park, Minn., late Thursday night. We have offered our condolences to Deanne's parents, Dale and Debbie Binde, and we ask for your prayers to sustain them during this sad and difficult time. Continue reading
