In addition, we'll use Moodle for grading and some kinds of class communication. When asked to login, use the same userid (all lowercase) and password that you use for your e-mail.

I use your "goshen.edu" e-mail address for some class communications. Some of you may use other e-mail services. If you do use some other service, make sure your goshen.edu e-mail account is set up to forward e-mail to the account you read most often.

Catalog Description

"The class focus will be on creating Web pages for Internet and Intranet use. Class work will be on the World Wide Web. Issues of design, Web graphics and the systems of page development will be a major part of the study."

Themes for this semester:

  • Communicating clearly through words organized in a way that match web page viewers' expectations.
  • Using visual composition effectively.
  • Separating content and visual design decisions, so that you have some hope of maintaining your website.

Grading

Your grade will be based on: 

  • 45% Four assignments. 
    Assignment 1 6% (Info Architecture)
    Assignment 2 10% (Annotated bibliography)
    Assignment 3 9% (Site studies/sketches for your Project)
    Assignment 4 20% (Website project)
  • 30% Tests/quizzes.
    A midterm test (10%) and a Final exam (15%). Two quizzes (5%).
  • 12% Lab and Homework assignments (10).
  • 3% Presentation to the class of Final project.
  • 5% Website review blog and presentation
  • 5% Class participation.

  • 90% - "A"
    80-89% -"B"
    70-79%-"C"
    60-69% -"D"

Participation and attendance

You are expected to attend all class sessions. Let me know of unavoidable absences as soon as possible. The calendar posted is tentative and will change as opportunities or problems come up. Lab assignments and presentations missed without special arrangement cannot be made up later.
