You were made for more . . .
No matter if you’ve attended church all your life or if you’ve never been in church – we invite you to experience worship with us. We are an inter-generational church whose mission is to lead ordinary people to extraordinary life because God created all of us for more of His life – John 10:10.
Our worship services start at 10:30am on Sunday mornings. When you visit you can expect . . to be welcomed and accepted by a group of everyday people just like you, to find people who love Jesus and desire to serve Him with their lives, an celebrative worship service that is led by a modern band, and messages that are biblically based and Christ-centered. We love the Bible, and every week we explore it to grow closer to God and discover the life He offers us. If you have a Bible, bring it with you. If you don’t, there’s one waiting for you when you visit us. Don’t worry about what to wear- just come in what is comfortable for you. We hope to see you soon.

Grace is an energetic church. The meeting times are 8:00, 9:45, and 11:30. We just opened a new high-tech worship venue at the church, which really targets the young adult generation. The congregation can now choose to go into the main service or into the LINK (the new facility). There is a college group (18-28 years old) called The PURSUIT at the church in the LINK. We meet every Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. and alternate between corporate worship, prayer, and teaching times one week and then small groups on the next week.

College Mennonite Church is an open and caring congregation with a heart for nurturing faith development in young adults. Our history is deeply rooted in a connection with Goshen College, and that connection continues today with the many attendees who are GC profs, alumni, current students, and future students. Members of the congregation love to find ways to connect with current students, and many become surrogate parents and grandparents to young adults during their college years.
Congregational worship starts at 9:30 every Sunday morning, but come at 9:15 if you want to participate in our weekly pre-service hymn sing. Following the worship service come join us in Room 144 for the College-Age Fellowship. Russ and Marge Liechty, Sue Neeb, and Talashia Keim Yoder lead the group in an informal time of fellowship (with coffee, hot chocolate, and good food) and discussion of faith. And every Sunday, college students are invited into the home of a member of the congregation for a home-cooked meal.
Wednesday evenings are another time to connect at CMC. Come at 6:00 every Wednesday for Soup and Sewing, where you’ll eat homemade soup and bread and join CMC members of all ages in sewing, quilting, knitting, and knotting comforters. As you get to know us and we get to know you, we would love to involve you in church life in whatever ways fit your gifts and passions. So come and get to know the church that meets in your chapel!

Located only two miles south of campus, with access via bikepath most of the way, there is a healthy contingent of GC students and employees among attendees. There is a 9 am blended worship style service; 10:15 nurture hour with college age class that provides a safe environment for seeking and questioning. Multiple pastoral staff (including women and men) with multiple mission interests, including a strong support network for home and overseas service and missions. Active relationships with two Spanish-speaking churches in Goshen and Benin Bible Institute in West Africa. Active involvement with creation care, with 65 acres of natural church property and a close relationship with Merry Lea personnel. Monthly potlucks and opportunities for involvement in worship (worship leading, scripture reading, music, etc.) and service (a GC student organized a church-wide clothing drive, for example. Others have taught Sunday school for various ages). Regular supporter of discernment activities like Ministry Inquiry, Camping Inquiry, and Service Inquiry Programs and church-wide voluntary service programs. Finally, a strong support network for GC students, with more GC alumni attending there than at any church besides College Mennonite and close to a dozen GC employees among regular attendees.

Bethel Missionary Church is equipping people empowered by the Holy Spirit to live out and to proclaim the Message of Jesus Christ.
For many years now, the Bethel family has provided “a home away from home” for several Goshen College students. We are a smaller country church located in Goshen and we are striving to encourage and challenge one another through the relational connections that we have with one another.

Lifespring Community Church is a non-denominational church in downtown Goshen. We have worship and a message for an hour and then after the service all the college students are invited to a church members house for a free home-cooked meal. Since it’s not a large church it is easy to make friends and get to know people. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly and we are always looking for ways to better the community and to help the family of God.

Our mission is to proclaim and model Christianity in a culturally relevant way with the goal of developing fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ…followers who GO to the lost with the message of Christ, GROW in their faith through a pursuit of Christ, and SHOW compassion to the poor with the love of Christ. Our service times are 9 and 10:30….I usually go to the 10:30 service and leave at about 10 or so. I am flexible though. We are starting a new series this Sunday (Sept. 7) titled “Tough Questions” in which our pastor is going to try and dissect the most common and hardest questions people have about Christianity and the Church. It should be good!

It is only natural that your life will be challenging at times during your college days. We speak from experience when we remind you to take a break from your hectic campus life to reflect on lessons learned and mistakes made through prayer and the sacrament of Reconciliation. If you find yourself with questions or your faith challenged, please call Father Chris for clarification and conversation. He would also love to hear from you anytime via e-mail: csmith@stjohncatholic.com.
We encourage your participation as we celebrate the Most Blessed Sacrament and we hope to be your home parish away from home. Let us know how we can help make your college experience one that supports your spiritual life. If you are searching for a meaningful way to become involved at St. John’s, may we suggest the following:
- We offer R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) on Thursday evenings if you want to learn more about the Catholic Faith. People of all faiths are welcome to attend. Call the parish office for the schedule and the details.
- Our elementary school needs Mentors to work one on one with some of our students and we have need for certified substitute teachers. Call Peggy at the school office at 533-9480.
- Where are you in your life’s journey? Our youth group for middle and high school students may need your life experiences and enthusiasm! Call Sara Knight, Coordinator for the Youth Ministry at 533-3385 ext. 214.
- Our choir practice is Wednesday evening. They sing at the Sunday 10:00 a.m. Mass and for various seasonal liturgies. Call the parish office and they will gladly pass along your interest to our music staff.
Our Mass times are as follows:
- Saturday: 4:30pm in English and 6:00pm in Spanish
- Sunday: 8:00am and 10:00am in English, 1:00pm in Spanish
- Weekdays: 5:30pm on Mondays, 8:00am Tuesday – Friday, 6:00pm on Tuesday – Friday in Spanish
- Holy Days: Will be posted in our bulletin
- Reconciliation: Saturday from 3:30pm to 4:15pm (Or call Father Chris for an appointment at other times.)
