Local Volunteer Service Opportunities

Habitat for Humanity:

It isn't just a "weekend construction project" thing.  Call Habitat up any day of the week and be able to help at the ReStore, the office, building tool sheds, or even a house build.

Walnut Hill Early Childhood Center:

Spend any amount of time available playing and interacting with kids.  It's that simple.

Meals on Wheels:

Deliver much needed meals to the elderly to brighten their day.  Do a route once a month, week, or daily... whatever fits your schedule.

The Window:

Help prepare and serve a free meal each day at noon.

The Depot:

Volunteer in groups, floors, etc. to help sort, package, and process donated goods for distribution overseas. Monthly “Depot Nights” are on their way.

Goshen General Hospital:

Volunteer in the ER, surgery waiting room, center for cancer and care, children's tours, and more.
“In complementing the mission of Goshen General Hospital, volunteers directly affect patients by adding a personal touch to their care, giving compassionate guidance to families, providing ancillary services to staff, and promoting the hospital's excellence in the community.”

Miller's Merry Manor of Syracuse

Give an hour once a month (or more) and offer a friendly visit to a senior citizen that could include conversation, reminiscing, reading, or playing a game.  It gives residents a personal contact that they can look forward to seeing.  There are many alert residents who would appreciate one or two 20-minute visits each month.
