Hello, We had out first ASL Club meeting of the school yesterday. The following are the minutes of that meeting. Things to add to your calendar are in red. ASL Club: President- Tracey Stack Vice President- Alana King Secretary- Mary Roberts Treasurer- Brooke Hutchison Senior Class Rep- Gretchen Kingsley Junior Class Rep- Sarah Lintz Sophomore Class Rep- Angela Taylor Freshman Class Rep- to be decided Representatives, please pass all minutes along to the members of the club in your class. - Decided Business: o Minutes will all be filled on CD at the end of the year and passed on to the next generation via the secretaries. o President Tracey will be writing the grant proposal to Plowshares asking for yearly funds. o All Club Officers will be visiting the ASL 101 and 201 classes to create awareness of the club, propose signing on campus with other ASL students and create unity. • ASL 201 visit: Aug 30th 8AM in AD 35 • ASL 101 visit: Aug 30th 11AM in AD35 o New T-shirts will be designed this year. • Long sleeve and short sleeve. • Brooke’s sister (a design major) will be looking at possible logos and coming up with ideas. • Discussion on t-shirts to be continued. - Other Info: o Unused ASL supplies are being kept in the unused ASL lab room. o Web-page update: Alana is working on it. o Make sure to use reply-all option in response to group e-mails. o President Tracey will be handling the club application process this year. - Events: o Magic Show: presenter cancelled o ASL Social/Game Night will happen once a month. Pizza will be served. • Sept. 24th, 5-7pm • Oct. 26th, 5-7pm • Nov. 16th, 5-7pm • There will not be one in December, but we will resume in January. o Outing on Myron’s boat Aug. 28th 1-5pm. o Deaf Festival Sept. 17th o Oct. 13-15th Indiana Chapter NCRID Conference • Possibly free if you work as support staff. The following dates have been set and will be a go as soon as Angela receives confirmation from the cafeteria: • F Sept. 2nd • R Sept. 8th • F Sept. 16th • R Sept. 22nd • F Sept. 30th o Proposed Fall Break trip to Gallaudet Oct. 7-11th • See WDC sights • Stay on campus at Gallaudet and take a campus tour • See ASL agencies in WDC area • Confirmation yet to come o Proposed “Silent Night” at College Cabin. Brooke is looking into it. Date TBA. o Visits to the Lighthouse (Deaf-Blind Home in Chicago) on 2nd Saturdays of the month not looking possible on the calendar w/ other commitments.
