Here is your chance to be part of the solution. The Center for Intercultural Teaching and Learning (CITL) is transforming education, and we need you to be part of the change. CITL offers two types of grants:

  1. Research grants and fellowships that study a CITL area of focus
  2. Curriculum and faculty development grants for pedagogical and curriculum innovation

Faculty Research Fellowships

Faculty members will collaborate closely with CITL staff in advancing the goals of the Center. Prospective candidates are asked to select a particular area of study that will help advance the understanding of intercultural teaching and learning in any of the following areas:

  • Social/demographic context of Latino students
  • Educational experience of Latino students in local schools
  • Higher education Experience of CITL students
  • Curriculum innovation, teaching and/or intercultural campus transformation

Individual or Collaborative Intercultural Research Projects

Individual research projects are designed to assist faculty in the study of intercultural issues in their academic disciplines. Contact CITL to discuss possible topics.

Teaching Faculty Development Grants

Faculty development grants are available in these areas:

  • Faculty Scholarship
  • Conference/Continuing Education
  • Publication Support
  • Terminal Degree Completion

Faculty Learning Community for Course-Based Projects

Meet once a month with a small group (8-12 faculty) to work on course-based curriculum and/or assessments (i.e., projects that examine strategies for incorporating active learning; intercultural content/skills; intercultural pedagogies into the classroom).

Departmental Assessment Grants

Collaborate within departments for assessment and/or curriculum development projects (i.e. developing new courses and curricula that include intercultural content/skills or intercultural pedagogical approaches).

Leadership grants for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Showcase Projects

Collaborate across departments/disciplines to develop curriculum and/or research projects on pedagogy with intercultural components. These showcase projects might also address basic questions of intercultural teaching and learning research.

Spanish Language Study

CITL offers an Individual Grant for Summer Spanish Language Study, which is available to all Goshen College employees.

The grant review and application process is administered through the Mininger Center. Contact the Dean’s Office for amounts, eligibility and other details.
