The process of making biodiesel at Goshen College follows plans published in the book Biodiesel: Basics and Beyond, by William Kemp. The author's website includes a page featuring the processor built by the GC students. Below is a schematic of the main components for the processor.
The processor is composed of four main tanks
Waste Vegetable Oil Dryer
The reaction tank
After the glycerol has been removed, the next step is to remove the leftover methanol.

The fourth and final tank dries the biodiesel product
The final product is a clear, light yellow liquid. It looks very much like unused vegetable oil.
