On-campus and work-study jobs


On-campus jobs are a convenient way to earn money while attending school. There are many departments and offices who hire students both during the school year and over the summer. As an enrolled student, you may apply for jobs and arrange interviews with prospective faculty & staff employers. Most students do not work more than ten hours per week during the school year in an on-campus position.

Career Services is available to assist you in finding on-campus employment, but we do not directly place students. Each student is responsible for securing his or her own job, including work-study positions.

Academic Support Center (ASC)

  • Student Directors - assist with the Tutoring Program, Writing Mentor Program, or Assistive Technology & Placement Testing
  • Academic Tutors - tutor students once a week in an academic subject (tutors are hired for various subjects as needed). Tutors must be recommended (or approved) by faculty.
  • Writing Mentors - assist students one-on-one with written assignments once a week. It's preferred that mentors have taken at least one English course taught by a GC professor and that he/she is recommended by a faculty member.

Admission Office

Audio-visual Services - ITS Media

  • Student Technicians - work with ITS Media staff to provide audio/visual support for on campus events and classrooms. Assignments may include tasks such as running live sound at chapel/convo, setting up video/data projection for special lectures, or videotaping sporting events and music recitals.
  • Office Assistants - primarily assist customers with equipment check-out, answer phones, and assorted multimedia requests; some clerical work such as filing, organizing, etc. with heavy focus on technology.

Campus Center for Young Children (CCYC)

  • Community Voluntary Service Student Assistant - responsible for overall leadership of a program that offers students a variety of service opportunities.
  • Campus Worship Night & Worship Teams Student Assistant - responsible for the overall planning of CWN, a weekly worship service for students; brings together teams who lead music in a variety of styles for CWN, Chapel, and other events.
  • Special Programs Student Assistant - work with the Campus Minister to design and provide services and programming which supplement on-going activities of Campus Ministries and reach out to students not currently involved in campus spiritual life.
  • Small Groups Student Assistant - responsible for overall coordination of a program which helps students find and experience meaningful small groups; gives training and support to small group leaders.

  • Presidential Student Ambassador - ambassadors will be leaders for Goshen College and seek to develop relationships between alumni, friends, and churches with the college. Students are asked to work in a professional capacity in a number of different areas, all of which relate to contacts with various VIPs. Duties will include hosting donors, staffing annual phonathons, and weekly handwritten notes to donors and alumni.

  • Student Technology Assistant--STAs provide technical assistance to Goshen College faculty, staff and students. Ideal candidates will be patient, customer-focused, and able to communicate technical concepts to individuals of all competency levels. What is work-study?

Work-study is a federal program that creates jobs for students with financial need, so they can earn money to help pay for educational expenses. The money a student earns from a work-study job does not count toward annual earnings when determining financial need the following year.

Students who are eligible for work-study are responsible for securing their own work-study position and are encouraged to begin looking for jobs even before the school year begins. Career Services can assist students, but we do not place students. Nearly every on-campus job can qualify as a work-study job.
