What is your role in Career Services?
My primary duty is to enter jobs in our online job bank (an absolutely wonderful resource, I might add). However, I also get to do a lot of really exciting things, like organizing Been There, Should've Done That in the fall, helping brainstorm about new programs/projects, and coming up with some of my own career-related stuff to research and implement. My "job classification" is Student Assistant, but I prefer to think of myself as more a member of the Career Services team.
What is your favorite thing about working in Career Services? What isn't my favorite thing about working in Career Services? Anita and Megan are amazing! I love learning new things and having constant access to the ample resources provided by Career Services. Recently my favorite thing has been delving more deeply into the Strengthsquest program- I find it completely fascinating!
What do you like to do in your free time?
Free time? Are you joking? I'm a college student! We don't have free time! During the time I'm not absolutely required to be doing anything, I love to read and bake. I'm working on GC Journal, and that's a lot of fun. Also, I like to knit.
What is your dream job?
Hands down, my dream job is to be a world-traveling book editor.
What is something that others may be surprised to find out about you?
Until the summer before my junior year here at GC I had never been on a plane or seen the ocean before. (Both are amazing!)
What is one thing you want GC students to know about Career Services?
Just one? Well, first off, Career Services is located on the first floor of the Ad building. Second, you don't have to be a senior to be able to use our services. It's best to not put career planning off until the last minute (trust me). The whole process takes time, and if you get an early start you'll be better off in the long run. There're so many things Career Services can help with that it's almost unbelievable. So, to summarize: 1. We're in AD 14. 2. Come visit us.
