Thank you for considering joining in this collaborative effort between Multicultural Affairs and Residence Life. The SALT program is an opportunity for newly admitted Goshen College students who identify as coming from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds to get a head start on their total college experience!
SALT is an academic program that focuses on themes of ethnic identity, leadership and spirituality.
Summer: The 2013 SALT program will take place during the summer: June 9 –28 2013.
Academic: Introduction to the academic rigor of college level work through completion of a three credit hour course.
Leadership: Weekly seminars and reflections deigned to facilitate reflection on personal leadership skills and abilities.
Training: This program is an opportunity to “train” yourself with healthy habits and the good discipline required for success during your time at Goshen College.
Resident Assistants (RA’s) will accompany students on the floor in the Residence Hall. SALT RAs live alongside participants as they make the transition into college. In addition to the traditional RA role, the SALT RA will also be expected to assist students with academic work and study skills. RA’s share their experiential expertise and impact communal, social, and academic facets of the SALT participants
Staff for the SALT program will report for training on the afternoon of June 5, 2013. The students arrive beginning at 4pm on Sunday June 9, 2013. The closing luncheon will conclude the program on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 2pm, and staff will be expected to stay until 6 p.m. that evening.
SALT RA applications are due Wednesday, March 13, 2013
SALT RA interviews will be held beginning the week of March 25, 2013
