DESCRIPTION:Join Us: Wednesday\, 2/6/13 @ Noon in NC 19.Sound of the Environment is a monthly community conversation about Environmental Sustainability. This month we will hear from Laura\, Tom\, Jonathon\, Lydia & Jon Mark as they present info about Goshen College's inaugural Sustainability Semester in Residence (SSR)\, housed at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center. This innovative program introduces students from any academic major to field-based learning about the important environmental issues in our watershed through direct contact with the people effecting change in our region. A week-long canoe trip down the Elkhart and St. Joseph Rivers to Lake Michigan\, and weekly field trips framed the content for the courses. The Fall 2012 SSR students met 130 people at 60 different sites\, and had over 300 hours of learning outside the classroom. Come hear about the program design\, how we maximized learning from site visits\, and a student's comments on her learning through this experience.Feel free to bring your lunch & bring a friend. All are welcome.
