Leadership Seminar: Everest Simulation
The Leadership Seminar class is utilizing a virtual simulation for Leadership and Group Dynamics.
“Everest”, a web-based simulation produced by Harvard Business Review, “uses the context of a Mount Everest expedition to reinforce student learning in group dynamics and leadership”.
Some of the learning objectives of this simulation include the ability to lead, participate in, and motivate teams more effectively as well as making critical decisions in situations when members have different information and opposing interests.
Research done at Illinois State University indicate that both students and faculty attribute “significantly greater overall educational utility to business simulation as a teaching pedagogy, and view business simulation as particularly more effective in teaching such essential managerial skills as teamwork, planning, and problem solving/decision making.
