Entrepreneurship Grant

This program provides an opportunity for students to apply for a grant of up to $5,000 to start a business.  One of the goals of the entrepreneurship grant program is to give students the opportunity to experience running their own real business while they are still students.  This can be a great benefit to the growing entrepreneurs.  They have access to business department faculty with experience in accounting, law, marketing, and other resources, as well as community business leaders to help them develop their business.  Students from all academic disciplines and majors are eligible and encouraged to apply for the entrepreneurship grant.

Criteria for Application

To apply for the Entrepreneurship Grant, students must:

  • Write and submit a formal business plan.  Business department faculty are available for consultation and advice during this process.
  • Present the plan in a professional presentation to a committee composed of faculty, students, administrators, local business leaders, chamber of commerce representatives, and bank officers.

Students who receive a grant also have the opportunity to take a class, BUS 402 Applied Entrepreneurship.  These students can earn 3 credit hours while working on their businesses.
