Good-bye to the Official Maple Tree of Goshen

Because of a dangerous crack in the trunk and branches, the Official Maple Tree of Goshen - which sat just north of the Administration Building and was a campus landmark with its connections to the recent tradition of spring prognosticating with sap and with its long history of providing shade as students sat in the bench watching the bubbling Adelphian Fountain - had to be cut down (with deep sadness) in late April. There are plans to plant a new tree in the same location and to use the wood from the historic tree for campus projects.
