Goshen College
Premedical Statistics
Students enrolled in the pre-professional health program at Goshen College have generated much higher acceptance rates than the national average. According to the Medical School Admission Requirements 1996-1997  (published by the Association of American Medical Colleges) the field of medicine is becoming more and more competitive in recent years. The AAMC published national acceptance rates of 54.7% for 1990 and 38.2% for 1994-95. However, 75% of Goshen's pre-med students were accepted that year and Goshen College students have maintained an average acceptance rate of 72.4% over the past five years (1991-1996). For the past eleven years (1985-1996) the Goshen College average is 81.5%. Any student at GC may participate in the pre-medical program and apply to medical school -- there are no formal standards for applying, and there are no classes designed to "weed out" students.
