- MCAT --
offical AAMC web site for information about the MCAT. AAMC has recently added
an official site for preparing for the MCAT, at www.e-mcat.com.
This site includes practice tests, diagnostics and other help. There is a
one time cost of $40 for using this site.
- Kaplan The leader in test prep. They
have assorted information here, mainly about their courses.
- Princeton Review Another test prep
company. Great med school info section.
- The Berkeley Review prep course
is praised my many students as being one of the best.
- California-based Hyperlearning
often gets rave reviews.
2. Interviews
- Interview Feedback Page
This excellent page is a must if you're preparing for interviews
- Interview Advice
from the AED chapter at the University of Louisville.
- 31 Questions
I Wish I Had Asked from the AAMC is a great page to give you some ideas
on what to ask schools when you interview.
3. Schools
- The Best Medical
Schools at the Princeton Review page is the free online version of the
book they sell in stores.
- AAMC listing of all of the accredited
medical schools in the U.S. and Canada, along with links to each school's
homepage on the web.
- U.S. News & World Report's ranking
of medical schools, including breakdowns by specialty. Usually considered
to be the standard.
- Wehrli's page dedicated to medical
school rankings has two different reputable lists ranking the top 30 medical
schools.
- Although I'm not sure what "formula" was used to determine the
rankings, this page is a listing of medical
schools ranked by GPA and MCAT averages.
- Here's a better listing
of medical schools with info on GPA, MCAT, in-state/out-of-state admission
statistics, etc.
- Yet another medical school
list, grouping the schools by GPA, oddly enough.
4. Application/Acceptance Advice
- Erick's Guide
to Medical School Admissions seems to be pretty extensive.
- Andy
Greenshields tells how he got in, and gives valuable advice.
- Michael Greger
was "obscenely, obscenely successful" in getting into an MD/PhD
program. (Wow!)
- Allen
Butler was recently successful in getting into Tulane Med School and offers
his own advice and insight on the admissions process.
- Dr. Brown, author of a couple of premed-related books and part of the Mendocino
Foundation for Health Education, provides unique
advice from a physician's perspective on current issues in medicine and
medical education.
- The Premed Engine contains useful
information and a premedical advisor who offers consulting.
- A place that calls itself "Medical
School Admissions Secrets" is actually a premed consulting service,
but the site has other useful advice and information.
- Here's an email contact
list from the Interactive Medical Student Lounge allows you to write to
medical students at schools that you are interested in.
- John Canuck's Medical
School Applicant Help Page is directed specifically for Canadian applicants,
but has many useful links.
- Greg Chronowski's ChronoNet webpage has a great Netforum
area where many premeds discuss relevant issues.
- Princeton Review's MCAT / Medical
School Discussion Group remains constantly active with questions and answers
from premeds and those in the know.
- Kaplan also a has a MCAT/Medical
School Admissions Message Board with various topics of discussion, although
not receiving as much traffic as TPR's.
- Premed William
Evans' pages include sample personal statements, interview questions,
along with his personal account of trying to get in.
- Linda Abraham's writing advice
page is great help if you're having trouble writing med school essays.

the web. A must-see. MedWorld is a really
great site with all sorts of medical info. The
Journal of Pre-Med Studies Yes, they now have a journal for everything
it seems.
The Cool
Medical Site of the Week might be an interesting place to visit.
Misc.Education.Medical
newsgroup is a great place to observe or have your questions answered by
other premeds and/or medical students.
Student-to-Student is a site
in development with many great ideas, including interactivity with other
premeds and medical students.
Premed.edu contains many links
to various premed-related topics.
The FAQ
for the misc.education.medical newsgroup is a great place to start if you're
new to the 'premed scene'.
An online journal called IMED,
Issues in Medical Education is an evolving site that contains great
potential.
