I am an assistant professor of biology, and I have taught at Goshen College since fall, 1997. I teach Health in a Changing Environment, Biological Principles, Genetics, and several other courses. In addition to teaching biology, I also work with several students who are performing behavioral research at GC. We are currently investigating whether male guppies can learn the location of potential mates. We are particularly interested in determining whether the male guppies learn to find females more rapidly in groups or as individuals. Prior to teaching here, I was a graduate student at Indiana University where I earned a Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior. Specifically, I studied courtship and aggressive behavior in a small fish called the threespine stickleback.

I have several hobbies outside of biology. I enjoy reading, sewing, camping, hiking, swimming, and running. I am currently the assistant coach for the men's and women's cross country teams. I live near Goshen with my husband, Chip, and our pet Airedale Terrier, Heather. Chip is a 5th grade teacher in a local elementary school, and Heather just likes to play. I hope you enjoy this course. ---Jenny
