THE PLOT

The plot pictured above was selected by Rachel Baker, Jesselle Camacho, Cheri Krause, and Karen Showalter. The objectives of this field study are to identify living organisms that are present in Witmer Woods and native to Indiana. The plot is located at the entrance to Witmer Woods along River Vista Drive and is approximately 10x40 feet. The pupose for choosing this site is to discover which organisms in Witmer Woods can find habitat alongside a road.

Changes during May

* Redbud bloomed

* Bedstraw developed white flowers

* Seedlings emerged from under the leaf litter

* White pine cone matured

* Grape vine leaves opened up

* The climate, moisture, and light differed each time the plot was examined, so the animals present and other factors made the plot look different.
