Learning outside of the classroom
Someone once said “The lessons we learn outside the classroom are equally if not more important than the ones we learn inside. I can't emphasize this enough. We learn how to live life, the most important lesson of all.”
My college experience has proven this true time and time again, and this year, specifically this semester, is as true as ever. I'm taking one physics class this semester, and the rest of my credit hours are coming from 'out-of-classroom' learning opportunities. Besides those opportunities which I am academically participating in, there are others, like Campus Activities Council, my volunteer roll at the church I attend, and the capacities I serve with the Record (GC's student newspaper).
Needless to say, an overarching theme of maintaining my busy schedule has once again surfaced as the year got under way. I've even started using a calendar to manage my schedule (something I've never really been able to manage).
Some learning opportunities that I was hopeful for have fallen through, in years past, and again this year, but these are also a reminder that not everything goes as planned, and sometimes my plan isn't the bigger intended plan for my life.
I'm keeping an open mind this semester to see what the future, and my busy schedule has in store. Fortunately for me, the less intensive book-smart schedule for me this semester has paved the way for more unique learning opportunities, and a lot of fun as well.
Below are some photo albums of Campus Activity events that I helped with.
