Thu, 15 May 2008Summer is soon...
The weeks have gone fast, and summer is in about six days. I cannot believe it. I really am enjoying my class still. I have been teaching in the 2nd grade class where my field placement is, and I love it! The weather has not been the best, but it has still been fun to be outside when it is sunny. Last weekend there were "Connector Nights." The RA's planned different activities. On Friday night, there were bananna splits and a little dance across from Java, the coffee shop here on campus. On Saturday night, there was karaoke and capture the flag. I really enjoyed playing capture the flag around campus. I am going to be an RA next year, so we have been starting to plan activities. I am really looking forward to it! Today there is a BBQ and all-dorm volleyball tournament. It is a little chilly out, but it sould still be fun! Afterwards, there are going to be bands playing on the field. I really appreciate all of the activities that are planned on campus. I am trying to have as much fun as I can before I leave on Wednesday. It will nice to be done with classes, but I am really going to miss my friends over the summer.

Sat, 3 May 2008May Term 2008
After a wonderful little break with my lovely family and friends, I was excited for my May Term class. While at home, my family saw "Wicked" in Chicago, and it was so much fun! I also visited my best friend at her college, and then just took some time to relax at home. I started Inclusive Schooling on Wednesday. It is a class for education majors, and I really am enjoying it because it is one of my first classes that is not a gen. ed. class. We had a field placement, and I am in a second grade class at Beardsley Elementary School in Elkhart. I absolutely love it! Each morning, I go there for about an hour and fifteen minutes. I help out around the classroom, and soon I will even teach a lesson! Then I come back and have class for an hour and a half. Classes are only three and a half weeks, so the pace is pretty fast. I am loving having the afternoons free, though! The weather has been gorgeous! I have spent a lot of time reading for my class out on the lawn. Of course, there is also sand volleyball games, too! My team had its first one on Wednesday, and we lost, but it was very enjoyable! Last night, I went with some friends to see the movie "Iron Man," which was really good! Today is another beautiful day, so I should probably spend some time outside!
