May Term
I'm loving May term! This year I am at Merry Lea for an enviromental education course that is required for all elementary education majors. The weather has been fairly nice. We have had 1st graders come Friday and today. We lead them through trails and teach them about nature. The children have been so amazed, energetic, and enthusiastic about being outside, and I love it! Tomorrow the college students start taking the students on the trails by ourselves instead of with other volunteers. I'm a bit nervous, but I'm sure it will go well!

DONE!

Wow...it's so nice to be done with finals and spring semester! They went well, but it is always a relief to be done. Last week, nine of my friends and I went out to eat at Olive Garden as a final hurrah before we all go our sparate ways. It was delicious and full of a lot of laughter! On Thursday, my dad came to pick me up and take me along with my stuff home. It was not fun packing! I have been in IL since Thursday, but I sure have been busy!

On Friday morning, I went to help at a kindergarten classroom that I usually help with. I went to lunch with my mom, dad, and one sister. In the afternoon, I went to spend the night at Illinos State with my best friend, Jennifer. We went to a circus, which was amazing, and also to see 17 Again, which was funny! I enjoyed spending time with her. Yesterday was busy, too! My sister is in dance, so a friend of mine went with me and my family to my sister's dance recital. It was good! I spent the night with my friend at a huge house where she was house sitting. It was fun! I went to my home church today. I'll be busy again tomorrow, I'm sure, and then head back to Goshen on Tuesday for May term. I'll be at Merry Lea for a class in which we will lead field trips for elementary students. I'm excited for that!

We Are Almost Done...

I can't believe how fast time goes by. It's already April, Easter is over, and the term ends next week! Crazy!

I was home last Wednesday through Sunday for Easter. I had so much fun seeing my family and friends. It was a busy time, but it was a lot of fun. I went shopping with my mom and sister. I watched my sister's soccer game. I saw a lot of my friends from high school. I went to my church, and afterwards my family and I went to my grandparents and had great food and an Easter egg hunt. It was very enjoyable! Now I'm thinking about next week's finals, and then I'll be home again for a few days! Yay! For May term, I will be at Merry Lea. Elementary Ed majors have to take a class there. I'm excited for it! We will be leading class field trips. Then, four days after that is done, I will be headed to Guatemala! I'm participating in CASAS, an SST-alternative. I'm really excited to be going there along with about nine other Goshen students. As for now, I need to make it through my three finals. I'm still hoping for nicer weather soon!

Keep pushing through
Once again, my weeks have been busy! I am always amazed when I stop to think at how fast the days go by. The semester is almost over! I think we have around one month left until finals. Crazy! My classes are still going strong. I have a Spanish test and quiz this week. I have a couple projects/papers due next week. I continue to study and read a lot, but I make plenty of time for fun!

Last Wednesday, I went to the Performing Arts Series Estonia National Symphony with my friend Alicia and her parents. It was very impressive!

Shane Claiborne was on campus last week. He has written a couple books. He talked at two chapels, downtown Goshen, and at a question and answer session, and I really enjoyed hearing what he had to say. He will be speaking at the Mennonite convention this summer.

Thursday evening I had an RA activity. We ate pizza rolls, fruits pizza, and pretzels and watched a movie! It was fun, but I had trouble keeping my eyes open!

On Friday, I planned a floor activity with a guys floor. We ate ice cream sundaes and watched a movie! It was fun! On Saturday evening, my friends and I went to see Goshen Hich School' production of Beauty and the Beast. I enjoyed it a lot and was very impressed with the singing, acting, set, and special effects!

I have been attending East Goshen Mennonite Church every Sunday, so I went there yesterday. They had a meal for college students afterwards. In the afternoon, I went outside and worked as much as I could on homework. It was a beautiful day out! I am excited for Easter in two weeks because I will be going home. It's always nice to get away every once in awhile and take a break!

Spring Is Coming!
What a beautiful day it is today! Spring weather always makes everyone happier!!

I've continued to stay busy! First off, Oprah was SO much fun! I went with three friends. We didn't win anything, but had a great time in Chicago! Dr.Oz was on talking about living a long life. Last Friday was beautiful out, so two friends and I went rollerblading. After wards, some of us watched a movie. Last Saturday, some friends and I went to the International Student Coffeehouse. I was very impressed with the show! Students danced, sang, and performed skits. This week went fast, thankfully! I had a quiz and test in Spanish, two presentations, and a PE lesson to teach. It was a busy week!

I was glad it was the weekend, by the time Friday rolled around. And what a wonderful weekend it was! I didn't have too much homework, so that was nice. On Friday, a group of friends and I went to an Hour After, a concert performed by students on campus. It was wonderful! Last night, I went to the Goshen College choir concert, and once again was impressed with the talent we have here. We went to Steak N'Shake afterwards. Today, I went to a Catholic Mass that was in Spanish. It was interesting! Tonight I have an RA meeting, meal, and then we are going bowling! I am looking forward to that. It's crazy to think that I will only be an RA for about one more month! Wow! Time sure does go by fast!

And We're Back Again!
"Spring" break came and went fast! I went home to Illinois, and I had a wonderful and relaxing time! I was able to be home for my sister's last half-time dance at the basketball game. I saw my best friend Jennifer many times, and we had a lot of fun watching movie and catching up. I played church volleyball and went to my home church, which is always nice. During the week, I helped in a kindergarten classroom. I really enjoyed that! I was able to see some other high school friends and go to regional high school basketball games, which were fun! I went shopping and out to eat with my family and had many delicious home-cooked meals! The week went fast, and I'm trying to get back into the swing of school again. I'm looking forward to Thursday though because three of my friends and I are going to see Oprah in Chicago!! I'll make sure to write about that next time.

Oh what a wonderful life...
The past few weeks have been so much fun! Last weekend, there was a "Hour After" here again! It was put on by Aurora House, which is an on-campus house in which all girls live in. It was fun to hear them sing, and we enjoyed eating cheesecake! Also, the Kratz-Miller RA's put on a Connector Night Life and had late-night pancakes and sausage, jewelry making, and rock-band. It was a fun night! On Sunday, my friends and I went to church and then held a surprise party for one of our friend's birthday. She was surpried! We went bowling and ate pizza. It was a wonderful weekend!

This week was fairly busy, once again. I had a PE for children test and a Spanish quiz. Of course, I always have a lot of reading, too. I observed in a first grade class, and I really enjoyed that.

Once again, I had a wonderful weekend this weekend! On Friday, some girls and I from the floor went ice skating. Yesterday, I went to South Side Soda Shop to eat supper and then to a movie. It was a fun day! Today I went with friends to East Goshen Mennonite Church. That is where I have been going the most. Of course, this afternoon was filled with studying! I'm really excited for Friday- midterm break!! I'm going to be going home, which should be lots of fun!

A Fabulous Weekend

As school continues to be busy, I always look forward to weekends full of friends and fun! This past week, I had 3 Spanish quizzes and lots of reading to do. I have been continuing to read children's books for my children's lit class, which is fun!

This week went fast! My dad was here for pastor's week, so it was nice to see him. We had coffee together and also went out to eat with the other college students from our home church. On Friday, 5 of my friends and I went to one of our friend's house for her birthday. It was SO much fun! We had 3 courses of fondue- cheese with bread, tempura with veggies/chicken/steak, and chocolate with fruit/marshmallows/angel food cake. It was delicious!! We also went in her hot tub and watched a movie. It was a wonderful night!

Yesterday was filled with homework before Kick-Off, the talent show here at GC sponsored by CAC (Campus Activities Counsel.) The theme was the "Acacemy Awards." They handed out awards in between the acts. It was very fun to watch all of the talent performed here at Goshen.

Another weekend is almost over. I am ready for midterm break, which is in 3 weeks!! I have another Spanish test this week, and plenty of other events/meetings to go to. I'm still enjoying college a lot!

Winterland
Wow...the first two weeks have gone fast!! Classes are in full swing now. This past week was really cold!! We have a lot of snow on the grouund, too. I'm still enjoying college! On Friday, I watched Eagle Eye with some friends. Yesterday the RA's went to a camp for a retreat! It was fun to get away for a night!! Tomorrow is Martin Luther King Day, so we do not have classes. That will be nice! There are plenty of events planned though, like chapels and speakers, so I will go to some of those. I already have a Spanish test on Wednesday, which I am not looking forward to! I am staying busy, but enjoying my time here!

Home again!
Wow, time sure does fly! I have been home since Saturday afternoon, but I have been busy! It's been good, though. Saturday night I went to see two of my sisters who are on a dance team perform at halftime of the high school basketball game. I also saw some high school friends there, too! It was fun! On Sunday, I went to church with my family. In the afternoon, my family hosted an Open House with a lot of goodies for people from our church. I always look forward to this each year! During the week I have been helping my kindergarten teacher in her classroom! It is so much fun. The kids always enjoy having me there, too. I help out with a lot of art projects. On Monday evening, I went to see my sisters in their choir concert. On Tuesday, I went shopping with my best friend Jennifer. It was a nice day, even though there was some snow. Last night, I went with Jennifer to her brother's basketball game. Today, Jennifer and I along with another friend made cookies! They are yummy! There is supposed to be an ice storm going through tonight, so maybe my sisters will have a snow day tomorrow. My family is supposed to go to the Nutcracker in Chicago tomorrow, so I hope that the weather is good enough for us to travel there. I'm staying busy, but having a lot of fun at home!

Back for another two weeks

The Case Study is done!!! It was nice to turn that in last week!

My best friend Jennifer came to pick me up for break. It was fun to have her here! We went to a guys' basketball game and to South Side Soda Shop for supper.

Thanksgiving break was wonderful, as always! It was nice to be with family, see high school friends, relax, and of course eat delicious food!! Another friend from home came back with me, so it was fun to have him here until Monday. The school work is starting to wind down. I still have a couple papers to edit and revise and a group project. Otherwise, all that is left is finals and fun!!

The intermural volleyball tournament is starting, so we have our first game tonight! Tomorrow, the floor is going bowling. Friday, some friends and I are going to "A Festival of Carols," the Christmas concert. Saturday is an "Hour After" where students play music. We will dress up and go to eat some desserts and enjoy the entertainment!! It should be a fun last week and a half before Christmas break at home!

In the Winter Times...

It sure does feel like Winter here in Goshen. Snow was even falling today! The weeks continue to fly by. Only a week and a half until Thanksgiving break, which means my Case Study is due soon! AHH! I am really ready to turn that in.

Last weekend was family weekend! I really enjoyed having my parents and three younger sisters here. We went to the Goshen men's basketball game, went to the play, and went out to eat. It is always nice to have visitors!!

This week went by fast. Intramural volleyball is continuing, and my team is 7-0! We are still having a lot of fun while winning!

This weekend went fast. I watched the second and third Pirates of the Carribean. They are good movies! Last night, I went to the Goshen College Choir cobined with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra Concert. It was impressive! A couple of my friends and I went to Coldstone after to get delicious ice cream! It was a fun evening.

Today, eight girls and I went to a Notre Dame women's volleyball game in South Bend. We ate out at Chipotle first. The burrito's were really tasty! I had never been there before. Notre Dame won in five games, so it was close, but it was a lot of fun spending time with people I love! I had an RA meeting tonight, and of course have to continue working on homework. I absolutely love college. I am so thankful for the wonwderful people I have met at Goshen! You should definitely come for a visit sometime!

Loving College

Fall break came and went, and classes have been in full swing for a week and a half. Last weekend, my twin sisters came to visit. I enjoyed spending time with them! Intramural mural volleyball has started, and my team is 2-0! It is so much fun. The past weeks have been wonderful and of course busy! This weekend went by really quickly. For Halloween, the Yoder dorm RA's planned a Connector Night Life. They had a dance, pumpkin painting, candy and caramel apples, and a scary movie. It was a lot of fun! Yesterday in the afternoon, my friends and I had a photoshoot. It was cool!

Schoolwork is still keeping me busy. I have been working on a Case Study paper for Educational Psychology which has been taking up a lot of time. I am still enjoying college life! I have wonderful friends, and we always find something fun to do!

The weeks go by...

Midterms are over, and I am at home for fall break!

I'll start by talking about last weekend, though, because it was a lot of fun! On Friday, I went to the volleyball game. Goshen held a tournament, so that was fun. I also had a floor activity for Kratz 3. We had ice cream sundaes and watched a movie in the connector, the place in between Kratz and Miller where there is a big tv. It was a lot of fun! Saturday was filled with homework, but first a lot of girls went out for breakfast for one of our friend's birthday. We had a great time! I worked a lot of my Educational Psychology case study, and got a lot done before it was due on Friday. Saturday evening was Kick-Off, the talent show at Goshen. It was so so good, as it always is! I am always amazed at home much talent there is at college! Afterwards, some friends and I went out to eat at IHOP! It was a late night, but it was very fun! On Sunday I went to College Mennonite Church with a friend, and then did homework all afternoon. I started studying for two midterms that I had. The week was very hectic and busy with homework and studying. I was glad when my tests that were on Wednesday and Thursday were over! I turned in my Case Study on Friday, and left for home-Illinois-around 2.

I went to visit my best friend, Jennifer, at Illinois State University, where she goes to college. We went out to eat and got Coldstone! It was fun being with her. My birthday is on Tuesday, so she got me a webcam so we can chat online! I am so excited! She also made me a DVD of pictures of us. I had so much fun with her. I've enjoyed being with my family and seeing high school friends, too. Of course, I do miss college and Goshen! The time always goes fast, but it is nice to be on break!

Fall is here

It's that time of the year. The leaves are changing color, and the temperatures are dropping. I am loving every moment in Goshen! I have been keeping busy, still. I have a huge Case Study to do for my Educational Psychology class, and my other three classes are not too hard. I have been going to many soccer games. Last weekend, the Mennonite Relief Sale was held a the fairgrounds here in Goshen. I went with some friends on Friday evening and ate so many good foods! Saturday morning some K3 girls went to the pancake breakfast. It was a lot of fun! During the afternoon, the Kratz-Miller RA's went to a pottery place and painted plates. It was so much fun! In the evening, the RA's held a "Connector Night Life." We had live music, movies and popcorn, a ping-pong tournament, and jewelry making for the students. It was a big succeess. This past week went fast, and I will be home in less than two weeks for fall break. I am excited to see my best friend Jennifer and my family, but I definitely love being at Goshen! On Friday, I went shopping with my friend and then downtown Goshen. There was live music and stores were open later. My friend Julie and I went to some friends' apartment and watched Step Up 2. Last night was the first Hour After of the year. Hour Afters are shows where someone from the college plays music, and this particular one had swing dancing. It was a lot of fun! I have a lot of homeworke to do today. And so another week begins.

Time is flying...

I have already been here for over three weeks, and I can't believe it! The time sure does go by fast! I am loving college. Being an RA is still a lot of fun! We went on a Floor Date to downtown Goshen a couple weekends ago. There was a dance afterwards, which was a lot of fun! One Sunday, some friends and I went boating for one of our friend's birthday. It was a nice, relaxing day! Another Saturday, some girls rode the trolley to Wal-Mart. I had never ridden it, and it was cheap! This past Saturday, the RA's planned a Kratz-Miller cookout at the college cabin, which was a huge success! It had been really rainy the past week, but the rain helpd off. Of course, there is always school work to be done!

Back for Another Year
I am so excited to be back at college and to see other friends and meet new ones! I have been on campus since the 22nd, so almost 2 weeks because I am an RA. For those of you who don't know, an RA is a Residential Assistant. I am in charge of the floor- planning fun activities, meetings, and other things. I am on Kratz 3, which is a wonderful floor!

This summer went SO fast! I worked at Menno Haven, a Mennonite camp in Tiskilwa, IL. I was a counselor, and I also worked in the kitchen some. It was so much fun! I can't believe it is over, but it's good to be back.

I had my first class today! It is called Transforming Conflict and Violence. It was really interesting! I am also working at the daycare here on campus. SO...with being an RA, classes, work, and of course trying to have a social life, I am pretty busy! I hope you come visit sometime!

Summer is soon...
The weeks have gone fast, and summer is in about six days. I cannot believe it. I really am enjoying my class still. I have been teaching in the 2nd grade class where my field placement is, and I love it! The weather has not been the best, but it has still been fun to be outside when it is sunny. Last weekend there were "Connector Nights." The RA's planned different activities. On Friday night, there were bananna splits and a little dance across from Java, the coffee shop here on campus. On Saturday night, there was karaoke and capture the flag. I really enjoyed playing capture the flag around campus. I am going to be an RA next year, so we have been starting to plan activities. I am really looking forward to it! Today there is a BBQ and all-dorm volleyball tournament. It is a little chilly out, but it sould still be fun! Afterwards, there are going to be bands playing on the field. I really appreciate all of the activities that are planned on campus. I am trying to have as much fun as I can before I leave on Wednesday. It will nice to be done with classes, but I am really going to miss my friends over the summer.

May Term 2008

After a wonderful little break with my lovely family and friends, I was excited for my May Term class. While at home, my family saw "Wicked" in Chicago, and it was so much fun! I also visited my best friend at her college, and then just took some time to relax at home. I started Inclusive Schooling on Wednesday. It is a class for education majors, and I really am enjoying it because it is one of my first classes that is not a gen. ed. class. We had a field placement, and I am in a second grade class at Beardsley Elementary School in Elkhart. I absolutely love it! Each morning, I go there for about an hour and fifteen minutes. I help out around the classroom, and soon I will even teach a lesson! Then I come back and have class for an hour and a half. Classes are only three and a half weeks, so the pace is pretty fast. I am loving having the afternoons free, though! The weather has been gorgeous! I have spent a lot of time reading for my class out on the lawn. Of course, there is also sand volleyball games, too! My team had its first one on Wednesday, and we lost, but it was very enjoyable! Last night, I went with some friends to see the movie "Iron Man," which was really good! Today is another beautiful day, so I should probably spend some time outside!

Spring Is Here!

The weather is gorgeous finally! Last weekend, I was excited to have two of my sisters here visiting me! On Friday, we made cookies! Saturday night we went to the choir concert, which was wonderful, and also went to "A Night at the Rec" where there were various activities, like basketball, ping-pong, and of course food! It was a lot of fun having them here!

Finals are in full swing! Yesterday was reading day, so we did not have any classes. It was gorgeous outside, so I went out there to study. I also went to the baseball game with some friends, and Goshen won! I have a final or activity in every class (5), so I have been a bit stressed. I took one test this morning, and I am so glad that it is over! I have to give a little speech at 1:00, and then I will study for my tests tomorrow! It is gorgeous out again, so I might have to study there!

I will be headed home on Thursday for a few days before May term. I am really excited to have nothing school-work related on my mind and to see some friends and my family!

WHERE IS SPRING???

Time keeps moving and moving and moving. I can't believe that we only have one more week of classes! I am really excited for May Term! Hopefully the weather will be nicer soon. Last weekend was gorgeous! People were outside a lot, and I could tell that the sunshine made everyone happier! This weekend has been very fun! On Friday, I went out to eat with a friend for supper, and then some girls went to the College Cabin for a bonfire. It was cold and a bit rainy, so we just had some s'mores inside! We played some games, too. Last night, I went to an "Hour After" with friends! It is like a coffehouse. We had dessert and college kids perform songs. They are always fun, and I especially enjoy getting dressed up. Afterwards, I played some games with friends in the connector, the area that connects the Kratz and Miller dorms. We played games for a long time, so I got to bed fairly late! It was so much fun though! Playing games is of my favorite things to do! I woke up bright and early to go to East Goshen Mennonite Church with a friend. I have been going there quite a lot. I really enjoy the service. This afternoon has been pretty uneventful. Sundays usually are homework days for everyone, so it is pretty quiet. I am going to be an RA next year, which I am very excited about. We have our first meetings this week. I shouldn't be too busy, except I should start studying for my 5 finals soon! I sure hope that spring comes to Goshen this week!

A Fun Filled Weekend

After a nice Easter weekend, I returned to Goshen ready for a busy week. It seemed like I had a test, paper, or project in every class. Many of them are over now, so I am feeling a lot less stressed out. We woke up on Friday morning to a couple of inches of snow, which was not exactly what I wanted to see! I am ready for spring weather! This week went fast, and I was so glad the weekend had come! On Friday, I went out to eat at Panera and went shopping with some friends. I played Scattergories later that evening. Yesterday, I went to two girls' sophomore recital, which was very good! Goshen had a track meet, and it was fun to watch even though it was very chilly and windy! Some friends and I went out to eat at El Camino, a Mexican restaurant, for a friend's birthday for supper. Last night, I went to GSWA's (Goshen Student Women's Association) Chocolate House. Women read poems, sang, played music, and danced. It was a nice evening! Of course, there was chocolate, too! It seems the weekend has gone fast, once again. I can't believe that the end of this semester is fastly approaching already! We have finals in less than a month. This year has gone so fast for me, but it has been a good one!

This And That
The time never seems to stand still. Here it is, already the middle of March. The semester is going to be over very soon! I have been pretty busy lately. Last weekend, I worked two days for the Annual Spring Phoneathon calling Goshen College alumni and asking for donations. I actually seem to enjoy it! I went to Campus Worship Night on Wednesday and heard Ruby Sales speak. It was a nice evening. Of course, there is always homework and studying to be done during the week, too. I babysat for three girls on Friday! It was fun because the weather was nice enough to go play in the park! I enjoyed the beautiful sun and temperatures last week! On Friday, there was a "Connector Night Life" that I also went to. The Kratz and Miller RA's put it on. There was a band playing in Java Junction, a guitar hero contest, ice cream sundaes, an easter egg hunt, and a few other things. Yesterday was the first home baseball game, so I went to that! Goshen won! Last night I watched a movie with a couple friends and tried to get to bed early! I am really ready for a day off on Friday! I am going home this weekend for Easter, and I am really excited to see a lot of high school friends!

♥Spring Break♥

Spring break has come and gone already! I had such a wonderful time at home, which is Illinois! I visited my best friend, Jennifer, from high school who goes to Illinois State University. I hung out with my family, too. It was good to see my parents and my three younger sisters! I relaxed and watched some t.v. During the week, I went and helped in a kindergarten class! The children are so cute! Mrs.King, the teacher, was my kindergarten teacher, and she is the best! I ate out with some friends from home. I met up with Kristi, a college friend, for breakfast and that was fun! I took a road trip to Cedarville University in Ohio with Jennifer to pick up a friend! That was quite the experience, and it was a lot of fun! We ate at the Cheesecake Factory, which was delicious! I came back to Goshen last night. It was good to reunite with friends here! Now back to work! Today was kind of hard getting back into the swing of things, but I am doing better already. Thankfully I was able to get a lot of homework done over break, so this week should not be too bad! I know that time will continue to fly, so I will try to enjoy every moment.

Time Flies Here at GC!

Another week has come and gone. I just cannot believe how fast time flies here! It is mostly because I am so busy with homework, work, studying, and of course fun!

I went to the guy's basketball game. It was very exciting because we won!

Thursday was Valentine's day, so our floor passed out valentines and candy. I ate a lot of chocolate! My best friend, Jennifer, from home sent me a valentine gift in the mail! That was fun to receive!

Last night, there was a Valentine's dance here sponsored by Campus Activities Council and the Black Student Union! I went with some of my cousins. It was fun dancing! There was plenty of chocolate to eat, too!

This morning, I helped one of my professors with one station of the Science Olympiad that is going on here for Middle School students.

Tonight, I am going to a Goshen College choir concert. I am sure that it will be wonderful! Not only is there many activities, but also a lot of homework to be done before midterm break this Friday! I am really excited to go home to Illinois. I cannot believe this semester is half way over. The time sure does fly!

Oh, How Fun!

Hello! I am glad this is finally up and running! I will first just say that I am a first year elementary education major, and I love Goshen College! I can not believe that I have already been here for a month since Christmas break. It has gone SO fast! Now, spring break is in two weeks! It will be nice to have a time off again.

I have been trying to enjoy my classes as much as I can. The first week was a bit stressful, but it has gotten easier. I am in Biology World, Bible 200, American History, Math for the Elementary Teacher, and Oral Communication. I have quite a bit of reading that I have to do for these classes, and I have realized that I am ready for general education classes to be over! I am surviving, though.

I have to say the best part of every day is working at CCYC, the daycare here on campus. I love playing with the children, so I am so excited to go to work each day!

My dad was here last week for pastor's week, so it was nice to see him. We ate out for supper and then went to Java another night. He also brought me some cookies! Last weekend, I went to the One Acts and also Kick-Off, which were both wonderful! It is always nice to have activities planned that are fun!

Tomorrow is Friday! The weeks seem to go by so fast but so do the weekends. I am excited to have a few friends come and visit tomorrow! Hopefully this weekend will be more relaxing without as much homework.
