November 7-8,1996

This stoneware piece was made by Toshika Takaezu during her workshop at Goshen College in November, 1996.  The piece is 25 inches high and 12 inches across.  It was wood fired in the Goshen College anagama kiln by Greg Stahly, student; and Jeff Unzicker, recent graduate.  Visitors can see this piece on display in the Good Library on the Goshen College Campus.

The photo below is a detail of the piece on the left. The dark green area was produced by copper applied by Takaezu.  The glazing is the result of wood ash accumulated and melted during the firing to cone eleven, which is about 2,400 Fahrenheit.
