Preparation for Advanced Practice Certification
Graduates of the FNP program are eligible to apply for certification examination through the AANP or ANCC based on the following criteria: 1) Graduate from an approved masters program as an advanced practice registered nurse, 2) completion of the NP Core Courses: advanced physical assessment, advanced pharmacology, advanced pathophysiology, 3) a minimum of 500 clinical hours in the family nurse practitioner approved populations, 4) coursework related to health promotion/disease prevention; differential diagnosis and disease management; family nurse practitioner focused courses; and courses in the advanced practice nurse role.
